Oborevwori Says Utuama’s Contributions To Nigeria’s Devt Were Remarkable

The Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has said that the contributions of former Deputy Governor of the state, late Prof. Amos Utuama (SAN), to the development of the country were remarkable.

He made the statement on Thursday at a Requiem Mass for Prof. Utuama at Emmanuel The Saviour Catholic Church, Asaba.

Represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, at the Requiem Mass which was celebrated by the Catholic Bishop of Issele-Uku Diocese, Most Revd. Dr Michael Elue, said, “we celebrate the extraordinary life and enduring legacy of Professor Amos Utuama, SAN, a distinguished scholar, legal luminary and former Deputy Governor of Delta State.

“Professor Utuama was a towering figure whose contributions to our state and nation were nothing short of remarkable.

“As a dedicated public servant, he exemplified integrity, wisdom, and an unwavering commitment to justice and good governance; his tenure as Deputy Governor was marked by selfless service, intellectual rigour, and a deep passion for the advancement of Delta State.

“Beyond his political achievements, he was a mentor, and a beacon of hope whose legal scholarship and moral compass inspired countless individuals, he stood for unity, progress, and compassion.

“His legacy challenges us to continue to build a Delta State that reflects these ideals and on behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I extend our deepest condolences to the Utuama family; we will honour Professor Utuama’s memory by sustaining the principles of excellence and service he so passionately upheld.”

While praying for God to grant his soul eternal rest, Governor Oborevwori also, called on Deltans to remember the deceased in their prayers.

Earlier in a Homily, Revd. Fr. Charles Okeke, stated that Prof. Utuama contributed greatly to the growth of the church and urged Christians to “live every minute of your life as if it is the last by doing good.”

Immediate past Governor of Delta State, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, CON, and his wife, Dame Edith, the Asagba of Asaba, HRM Epiphany Azinge, among other dignitaries, attended the Requiem Mass.
