The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, on Saturday attended the wedding ceremony between Samantha Hassan Sewankambo and Francis Onuwualu.
The sacred ceremony took place at St. John Mary Vianney Catholic Church, Asaba, where family members, friends, and well-wishers gathered to witness the union.
Sir Onyeme congratulated the couple and prayed for God’s blessings, love, and lasting happiness in their marriage.
In his Homily, Rev. Fr. Augustine Nwabuzor said that marriage is more than a union between a man and a woman; it is a sacred covenant involving the man, the woman, and God.
He urged couples to demonstrate commitment, love, and mutual understanding in order to make their marriages work.
According to Rev. Fr. Nwabuzor, “The woman was created from the rib of the man,” stressing the deep bond between husband and wife.
He recalled the Biblical account in which the man, upon seeing the woman, joyfully exclaimed, “This is bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh.”
He noted that without a woman, a man is incomplete, describing this truth as a fundamental reality of life.
Fr. Nwabuzor said, “Our mothers and wives should remember that you are essential collaborators in your homes.
“You are significant; in you, the man finds fulfillment, just as Adam did in the Garden of Eden when he exclaimed, ‘bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh.’”
He further explained that God, in His wisdom, did not create Adam and Eve at the same time, underscoring the importance of order and foundation in marriage.
He stated that the stability of marriage depends on its foundation, adding that when the foundation of the family is strong, the church and society at large are also strengthened.
Former Miss Maha Chidinma Ethel and Odoh Ozoemena Henry were also wedded at the ceremony.
the immediate past Governor of Delta State, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, CON, was among dignitaries who attended the wedding ceremony.
