DEPUTY Governor Monday Onyeme of Delta State, on Thursday, commended non-Deltans for their contributions to the growth of the state’s economy.

According to the Deputy Governor, non-indigenes are playing critical roles in making Delta the economic hub of the country in line with the M.O.R.E. Agenda of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.

Onyeme spoke when members of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Ukwuani Local Government Chapter visited him at Government House, Asaba.

“You have come here to live with us and do your business in our state, and because you are part of the people growing our economy  and making life easier  for everybody, we commend you and recognize you as one of us.

“Your President in his speech, summed up what we are doing for Deltans as government, he was able to recognize the fact that we are making progress  as individuals and as a government.

“This is good and I urge you to continue to contribute positively to the growth of our state because, if everybody is thinking positive, engaging in positive activities, we shall grow more and have more reasons to be happy,” the deputy governor said.

On the accolades showered on him for not discriminating in awarding scholarship to undergraduates whose parents reside in Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency through his non-governmental organization, The Odoziani Foundation, Onyeme disclosed that such gesture has made the qualifying examination for the scholarship to be more competitive.

He emphasized that the youths should be encouraged to embrace education as a foundation for better future.

Earlier, the President, Ohaneze Ndigbo, Ukwuani Local Government Chapter, Sir Precious Ifeanyichukwu in an address said the visit was to felicitate with Onyeme on his successful inauguration as Deputy Governor describing him as a square peg in a square hole.

The group commended the deputy governor for extending his scholarship scheme to non-indigenes and pledged their support and loyalty to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori-led administration in ensuring that the M.O.R.E. Agenda is successfully executed in the state.

Secretary, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Engr. Dan Ossai, the Deputy Chief of Staff, Sir Christopher Osakwe and others witnessed the courtesy call.
