Oborevwori Wades Into Warri Ward Delineation Crisis

The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, has warned communities having inter-communal crisis as a result of land disputes to desist from selling such land till formal demarcation of boundaries by the state’s Boundary Committee.

Onyeme who is the Chairman, Delta State Boundary Committee, gave the warning on Thursday during an elaborate meeting between the State’s Boundary Committee and traditional rulers, chiefs and people from Okpanam, Ogwashi-uku, Ibusa, Ewulu and other neighboring communities in Aniocha North, Aniocha South and Oshimili North local government areas of the state.

The deputy governor who presided at the meeting which took place in Asaba, emphasized that everything concerning sales of land in the disputed areas to stop forthwith.

He said, “in the interest of peace, I want to state here that anything concerning sales of land in these disputed areas should be stopped till further notice so that we can have peace while the Boundary Committee is working for a permanent solution.

“I want everyone of us to cooperate with this committee so that we can find a lasting solution  to these problems.

“As a government, our main concern is to proffer solutions, we want to be able to resolve every land or boundaries matters so that our people and communities can live in peace with one another.”

The state government also set up committee to be headed by the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Ekemejero Ohwovoriole, SAN, to look into all issues bothering on acquisition of land while issues on boundary that cuts across local government areas were referred to the State Boundary Committee.

The deputy governor directed all community representatives to submit their documents to a committee that is headed by the Attorney General, which will include The Executive Assistant on Chieftaincy Affairs, Permanent Secretary, Chieftaincy Affairs, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Lands and Survey, Permanent Secretary, Office of the Deputy Governor.
