The Chairman of the Peter Oyemike Foundation (POF), Chief Christopher Oyemike, Ph.D., on Friday called on Deltans to support the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

According to him, Governor Oborevwori has surpassed the expectations of the people through the excellent management of human and material resources in the state.

Chief Oyemike, popularly addressed as Onwanetinosa, made the call while presenting clothes to more than 1,500 women, primarily widows, in Abbi, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State.

”Our dear mothers, as we celebrate Christmas, remember our Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and our Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, Ph.D., in your prayers. They have done very well in the delivery of democratic dividends.

”We are aware of the Widows Empowerment programme of our Governor, and here in Abbi, we can see the physical projects that have been executed and are being executed; we have never seen such a thing in the past, and this calls for our full support for the Governor.

”This year’s donation of clothes to widows coincides with my 50th birthday anniversary celebration, so, let us always encourage our children to do the right things.

“Let us continue to support our Governor and remember him and his Deputy in our prayers,” Chief Oyemike said.

Some of the women who spoke at the occasion, including Mrs. J.U. Oshionwu, Mrs. Patience Eke, and Mrs. Obije, thanked Chief Oyemike for putting smiles on the faces of widows by providing cash gifts and clothes.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Ward 9, Abbi, Comrade Monday Dumbi, described Chief Oyemike’s gesture as unique.

He said, “we know that this is not political because it is an annual event, however, the fact that Chief Oyemike is a member of our party, the All Progressives Congress, has made it such that this initiative is endearing more people to our party.

”We thank CC and pray that God will continue to strengthen him in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

Some of those who witnessed the event included the Commissioner representing the South-South in the Nigeria Legal Reform Commission, Prof. Eugene Okolocha; the Senior Special Assistant on Media to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Comrade Fidelis Egugbo; the Onotu Uku of Echalla-Abbi, Chief Peter Nwosa; Chief Mathew Udi; Ogbuefi Lucky Okuji; Hon. Mathew Ochonogor; Chief Felix Gbagi; and Chief Kuti Dafe, among others.
