IN a bid to promote the art of poetry in the Niger Delta region and beyond, the first ever ‘Poetry Slam’ organized in Delta State would be taking place at Ughelli.
A press statement signed by the Creative Director of ECHOES, the organizers of the Poetry Slam tagged: “ECHOES SLAM IT”, Omoro Blessing, said the event is to promote creative writing and poetry that is gradually take a nosedive in the region.
According to Blessing, “it is agonizing to keep untold story inside of you.
“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside of you.”
She stressed that poetry as a medium gives the poet access to express himself in a language laced with symbols.
The Poetry Slam winner is expected to go home with N50, 000 and with exposure to other higher platforms to showcase his/her talent.
