AN Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Egbe Eko Edum, has been assassinated in Calabar, Cross River State.

Edun was allegedly trailed  to the car park on Murtala Mohammed Way, Calabar where he was waiting for his wife to pick him on arrival from Abuja through the Calabar Airport when the assassins allegedly hacked him to death with an axe.

He was until his death, the Commanding Officer of the 73 Squadron of the Police Mobile Force, Magumeri, Borno State.

He was said to be on a visit to his family in his home state, Cross River, when he was attacked and killed.

Cross River State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Irene Ugbo, told Newsden that the deceased was in Calabar to visit his family when he was killed with an axe by his assailants.

She disclosed that the Cross River State Police Command had instituted an extensive investigation into the assassination.
