THE Special Assistant, Media, to Delta State Governor,  Comrade Fidelis Egugbo, has said that the huge investment by the administration of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in education was already yielding desired results.

Speaking shortly after the 3rd anniversary Thanksgiving Mass of Maris Schools, Amachai-Okpanam,  Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, on Sunday, Egugbo stated that numerous youths in the state are positively engaged as a result of the education projects of the governor.  The thanksgiving took place at St. Michael’s Catholic Church,  Okpanam.

“Today, we just finished thanksgiving to God for the successes recorded by Maris Schools within three years of its existence.

“Yes, God has used good people, especially prayers from the Church, to sustain us as an institution, which has made our pupils to successfully sit for primary school leaving certificate examinations and the Junior Secondary School Certificate Examinations. We are grateful to God and all those He has used to make us achieve results.

“We will continue to pray for God’s sustenance and your invaluable supports as people of God, parents, guardians, pupils and students.

“We thank Governor Okowa for not just being passionate about education but for taking practical steps to address the education needs of the people of the state.

“There is no doubt that most of our youths have become entrepreneurs today as a result of his administration’s skill acquisition programmes, equipped through the Job Creation Bureau, Ministry of Youths Development and other agencies

“Without being immodest, there is no state in the country within the last six years that has established new schools as being witnessed in Delta from primary, secondary schools, technical colleges, universities, among others.

“Benefits of having quality education at the reach of the people is unquantifiable, that is why we should keep praying for Governor Okowa,  his family and for all Deltans.

“I have been approached concerning the Igwogwo erosion site at Amachai-Okpanam; that project is a multi-billion naira project that requires federal government’s intervention.

“Delta State government is aware that the erosion is threatening residential buildings while it has cut off the road to Akwukwu-Igbo. Luckily, Okpanam is a great beneficiary of Governor Okowa’s road projects; we are hopeful that remedial work will be done at the erosion site before it gets worse or takes lives; but, please those who wish to pass by the site should take precautions or, better still, consider taking alternative routes.

“As we are all aware, today is for Maris Schools to thank God. Two of our teachers who have distinguished themselves,  will be rewarded while, for believing strongly and upholding the ideals of Maris Schools, two pupils, Noah Enarusai and Blessing Emeka will not pay tuition fees for next term, being first term for 2021/2022 academic session.

“Once again, we thank those who joined us in the thanksgiving Mass and those who couldn’t come but are praying for us.  We also thank the youths of Amachai-Okpanam for their support.

“Parents should encourage their children to attend Maris Schools, nursery, primary and secondary schools and, by the grace of God, they will see the desired attitudinal changes which will make you to say, thank God,” Egugbo said.

Earlier in a sermon during the celebration of the Holy Mass,  Rev. Fr. Dennis Onochie, stated that,  “With God, all things are possible.

“Those Jesus fed in the Bible,  ate and there was left over; Jesus fed five thousand people with five loaves of bread and two fish.

“All that is required of us is to have faith; with God, all things are possible.

“You must constantly put faith in God, because even when things become difficult,  He makes it easy for us.

“We must have faith in God,  we must trust Him; He will never abandon us; He never fails us.

“We are called to trust Him, we are called to believe in Him; what He gives us is joy; in difficult moments, trust God; God Himself alone is powerful to save us if we have faith.

“With Him, all things are possible; nothing should separate us from the love of God; those who persevere to the end, will gain eternal life.

“As we journey in life, let us be patient; we must learn to love one another, we must drop any form of discrimination,  we must avoid pulling our neighbours down.”

The Ugoani of Okpanam,  HRM Dr.Michael Mbanefo Ogbolu,  was among those who worshipped in the church.

Some of those who joined Maris Schools in the thanksgiving include, Ezinna and Ezinne B.M.O. Ebonwu, Sir and Lady G.G. Iyawa, Sir P.A.B. Iyawa,  Sir and Lady Fynecountry, Sir and Lady Sylvester Okoh,  Comrades Paul Osuyi and family,  Cletus Ngwodo, Felix Ogedegbe, Dominic Adewole, Mr and Mrs Stephen Nweke, Mrs J. Ukwata, Engr. Sebastian Nwose,  Mr Chuks Akaeze, parents of pupils and students of Maris Schools,  among others.

The Holy Mass featured thanksgiving by the management,  staff, students and pupils of Maris Schools led by Comrade Fidelis Egugbo.
