A Catholic Priest,  Rev. Fr. Hilary Ibegbulem, has said Nigeria will be better if those seeking for elective offices have collective interest rather than selfish interest.

Delivering a Homily at the Catholic Church of the Ascension,  Asaba,  Delta State on Sunday morning, Fr. Ibegbulem stated the only those who have the interest of people, those who are committed to rendering selfless service should be elected into offices.

According to him, when Jesus Christ predicted His death, He sparked off debate about who was the greatest among His disciples. .

“The disciples apparently, were weighing themselves based on who was called first,  the wealthiest among them, spokesman,  treasurer, among others but,  Jesus made it clear that the greatest was the one who serves selflessly.

“For those of us who are in positions of authority, what is our ambition?  To serve or to be served?

“Where there is selfish ambition, there is always quarreling, there is always disorder.

“Greatness is attained by being selfless, the one who is humble enough to serve should be elected into positions of authority.

“Greatness is attained in the sight of God by the service we render, ‘anyone who wants to be the greatest is the one who serves all selflessly, the least among you.’

“In what ways are we serving the people?  In what ways are we serving God?

“We should create time to do things to the glory of God.”

The Holy Mass featured thanksgiving by parishioners.
