THE Episcopal Vicar for Politics, Public Relations and Government Affairs, Catholic Diocese of Warri, Delta State, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Chris Ekabo JP, has emerged as a discussant for this year’s edition of Maris Annual Public Service Lecture.

Secretary to Maris Trust Council (MTC), organisers of the annual lecture series, Comrade Fidelis Egugbo, made this known in a statement he issued on Sunday in Asaba.

According to him, the choice of the Catholic Priest was borne out of demands by members of the public that a Priest be involved in the discussion of the topic for this year’s lecture, ‘Selfless Service, A Phenomenal Virtue’ to be delivered by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Asaba, Rt. Hon. Festus Ovie Agas.

He said, “Today, we are happy to announce to the general public that an outspoken man of God, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Chris Ekabo JP, has agreed to be one of the discussants at this year’s edition of Maris Annual Public Service lecture billed to hold on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at 12 noon at Asaba.

“As an organisation which is using the annual public service lecture to solve societal problems and set agenda for the people, we agreed with regular participants at the lecture that it was important for a Priest to be among the discussants as the topic, ‘Selfless Service, A Phenomenal Virtue’ in a way, has religious connotation.

“To the glory of God, a very religious man who has used several platforms as a politician to serve God and humanity, Rt. Hon. Festus Ovie Agas, is delivering the lecture and a philanthropist, who believes strongly in using his business to uplift the standard of living of the people, Hon. Eta Enahoro is also, featuring as a discussant at the lecture.

“Very Rev. Fr. Ekabo is the second discussant we are unveiling for the lecture which will have four discussants and a Moderator.

“Already, a renowned journalist, University Don and former President of University of Ibadan Alumni Association Worldwide, Dr. Kemi Emina, for three consecutive times, is appearing as Moderator.

“Retaining Dr. Emina as Moderator, was again, as a result of the choice of the people and we are grateful to Dr Emina for making himself available for the lecture series despite his very busy schedule.

“Already, we have former Nigerian Ambassador to Sierra Leon, Ambassador Godson Echegile, OFR, as Chairman of Occasion, and Dr. Mrs. Cecilia Ibru, OFR, MFR as Mother of the Day.

“We thank Very Rev. Fr. Ekabo for accepting to be one of the discussants in line with the demands of the public; we are happy with the partnership that exists between Maris Trust Council and members of the public; we shall remain committed to adjusting to the demands of the people to achieve the desired results of making the society better.”
