Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme of Delta State has said that within two years of being in office as Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has performed beyond the expectations of electorate.

The Deputy Governor made the disclosure on Sunday while speaking at a reception held after a Thanksgiving Mass in honour of Hon. Eugene Okolocha, Ph.D at St. John’s Catholic Church, Abbi, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State.

The reception which took place at Pa Okolocha’s compound, Abbi, was to celebrate the appointment of Hon. Okolocha as the Commissioner representing South South region in the Nigeria Law Reform Commission (NLRC) by President Bola Tinubu.

While congratulating Hon. Okolocha, the Deputy Governor expressed confidence in his ability to perform creditably in his new office.

“This appointment of our brother, Hon. Eugene Okolocha as member, Nigeria Law Reform Commission is one of the ways that God is working for us as a people.

“Today, we are all in one political family, the APC, so, with the unity, we are all one.

“I have known Hon. Okolocha for a long time and God has made it possible for me to be Deputy Governor of Delta State and he is now a Federal Commissioner.

“This is the beginning and the position that will come to him will be greater.

“It is worthy to say that our Governor has Ndokwa interest at heart; since he came into office we are witnessing a lot of development in Delta State and Ndokwa in particular.

“We are here in Abbi and you can confirm that the Inam-Abbi road is under construction, the road from Emu to Abraka will be reconstructed, and the one from Onicha-Ukwuani to Utagba-Uno, Utagba-Uno to Ndemili, the road from Amai to Aragba, and the one from Aboh to Akarai are getting deserved attention from the administration of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.

“Already, the bridge across Ase Creek is completed, the Obi Ukpo to Ibabu road has also been completed by this administration.

“So, in just two years, we have recorded tremendous progress looking at road infrastructure only, imagine more years of this administration and how Ndokwa and Delta State will be.

“Today, our Governor has unfettered access to Aso Rock and as such, we will get more benefits from the Federal Government as members of the All Progressives Congress.

“Believe in us, support us, because, by the grace of God, nothing will go wrong

“I am very happy because of this exulted job that was given to our brother by Mr President; it is renewed Hope for MORE Agenda and this more will continue to come to us in Jesus name. Amen,” the Deputy Governor said.

Elder brother of Hon. Eugene Okolocha, Prof. Chike Okolocha, former Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development in Delta State, stated that the Okolochas of Abbi have thrown their weight behind the administration of Rt. Hon. Oborevwori, asserting that Sir Onyeme is the leader of the All Progressives Congress in Ndokwa land.

He said, “we are a family of loyal people and we thank the Almighty God for giving us Sir Monday Onyeme as our leader.

“Hon. Eugene Okolocha is familiar with Abuja terrain and whenever you are in Abuja, get in touch with him and he will take you round.

“We thank Jagaban, our President for recognizing my brother with this appointment, we are grateful to all of you for supporting the Okolocha family.”

Earlier at St. John’s Catholic Church, Abbi, during the Thanksgiving Mass, Hon. Okolocha recalled that nineteen years ago after recuperating from gun wounds he sustained as a result of failed assassination attempt on his life due to his role as Special Assistant to the then Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sen. Dr Ahmadu Ali, he was back to the Church to thank God for his appointment as a Federal Commissioner.

He noted that nineteen years ago, he was in the church to “thank God for saving him from assassins and today, we are thanking God for becoming the Commissioner representing South South in the Nigeria Law Reform Commission.”

In his Homily during the Holy Mass, Rev. Fr. Ezekiel Awore, Priest in charge of the church, said that humility is a virtue that should be imbibed by every Christian.

Some of those who attended the ceremony include the member representing Ndokwa West Constituency at the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Charles Emetulu, the Commissioner for Finance in the state, Chief Fidelis Tilije, the Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Sir Christopher Osakwe, Sir Felix Gbagi, Chief Henry Okechukwu, Mr Ray Owen, among others.
