Traditional Institution Is A Pillar Of Peace And Development Says Oborevwori

Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has called on traditional institution in the state to remain as pillar of peace and development.

Governor Oborevwori made the call on Tuesday while presenting Staff of Office to His Royal Majesty, Agbogidi Obi Michael Ogechukwu Osemedua, Isichei II, the Obi of Ubulu-Okiti Kingdom in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, noted that the traditional institution remains a vital part of society, stating, “It preserves our values, promotes peace, unity and supports development at the grassroots.”

Governor Oborevwori assured the people that his administration will continue to embark on projects that will directly benefit them.

According to him, his administration will prioritize drilling of boreholes to provide reliable access to potable water across various communities.

Governor Oborevwori while congratulating His Royal Majesty, Agbogidi Obi Michael Ogechukwu Osemedua, Isichei II, the Obi of Ubulu-Okiti Kingdom on his ascension to the throne expressed his administration’s high regard for traditional institution, especially royal fathers, whose leadership continues to strengthen their communities.

“I warmly congratulate His Royal Majesty on his ascension to this esteemed throne; today marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Obi and reaffirms the strong cultural heritage and identity of this great kingdom.

“The traditional institution remains a vital part of society; it preserves our values, promotes peace, unity and supports development at the grassroots.

“My presence here today shows the high regard our administration has for our traditional institution, especially our royal fathers, whose leadership continues to strengthen our communities.”

“Ubulu-Okiti is known for its rich agricultural tradition, especially in farming and palm wine production; these activities reflect the hard-working nature of the people and it endorses the kingdom as an important contributor to the Delta State economy; our government is committed to helping communities like Ubulu-Okiti grow and reach their full potentials.

“The progress already made in roads, schools and other projects, shows our commitment to rural development and I assure you that we will continue to embark on projects that directly benefit the people.”

“Education is the foundation of every society and we look forward to improving the learning environment for the children across communities in the State.

“Your Majesty, as you begin your reign, I encourage you to rule with fairness, wisdom and compassion. Be a father to all. Protect the weak, listen to the people, and promote justice without favouritism.”

“Let the traditional institution continue to stand as a pillar of peace and development and I look forward to continued partnership between your throne and the Delta State Government as we work together to improve the lives of our people,” the Governor said.

The Chairman, Aniocha South Local Government Council, Hon. Jude Chukwunwike, said that the council will do it best to optimize the welfare of the Obi and his colleagues within the limits of available resources.

Earlier, in a welcome address read behalf of Ubulu-Okiti Kingdom, the President-General, Ubulu-Okiti Development Association, Sir Azu Mafiana, appreciated the Governor Oborevwori’s administration deep respect for traditional institutions and unwavering commitment to grassroot development, cultural heritage and social harmony.
