Former Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Barrister Mike Ejiofor, will participate as a panelist in the 2026 edition of the Maris Annual Public Service Lecture on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
Ejiofor, one of Nigeria’s most prominent voices on national security, a security consultant, and a public affairs analyst will join other yet-to-be-unveiled experts to discuss the topic: “Insecurity: Bane of Nigeria’s Unity and Progress.”
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Secretary of the Maris Trust Council (MTC), Comrade Fidelis Egugbo.
Former Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, will serve as the Keynote Speaker at the event, which is scheduled to take place at Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba, Delta State.
”In line with our commitment to keeping the public abreast of recent developments concerning the 2026 Maris Annual Public Service Lecture series, we wish to state that former DSS Director, Barrister Mike Ejiofor, has confirmed his active participation in the discussion segment as a panelist
”Barrister Ejiofor, a security expert who is frequently featured on national television for his insights, will join other professionals from various fields to dissect the topic.
‘Former Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor will deliver the Keynote Address.
“The event will hold at Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba, on the traditional date of Wednesday of the Holy Week, the Wednesday before Easter Sunday which for this year, falls on April 1, 2026, at 12 noon prompt.
”As we make progress, we shall announce the Special Guest of Honour, Guest of Honour, Chairman of the Occasion, Father and Mother of the Day, as well as other discussants and the moderator,” Egugbo said.
Responding to the news of his participation, Barr. Ejiofor stated, “It is always a joy to enlighten the public on security issues.
“The choice of General Irabor as the Keynote Speaker is excellent; we look forward to being there on April 1.”
The Maris Annual Public Service Lecture series is a platform dedicated to proffering solutions to societal challenges.
Some past discussants include Senator Stella Omu, Olorogun Fred Majemite, Barr. Orezi Esievo, Hon. Emeka Ekekokuri, and Dr. Festus Okubor, Dr. Barry Gbe, Mr Charles Aniagwu, Hon. Joan Onyemaechi Adam Anioma, among others.
