Oborevwori Polls 597 Votes To Beat Edevbie, Otuaro, Others As Okowa Reacts

SPEAKER of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, on Wednesday, polled 597 votes out of total of 824 ballots cast by delegates at the governorship primary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Delta State to emerge the gubernatorial candidate of the party for the 2023 general elections.

Oborevwori’s closest rival, Olorogun David Edevbie at the election which took place at Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, scored 113 votes to clinch the second position.

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State who severally, made it clear that he would work for a conducive atmosphere for a free, fair and acceptable election beamed with smile as the Chairman of the Electoral Panel, Mr Ndibusi Nwobu, announced Sheriff as the duly elected candidate of the party with 597 votes.

Mr. Nwobu also said that Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi got zero votes, Chief Fred Majemite six votes, Senator James Manager, 83 votes, Barr Peter Mrakpor, 9 votes, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro, 9 votes, Mr. Abel Esievo, two votes and Chief Ejaife Odebala, 2 votes.

The Oborevwori’s 88 ‘Wise Men’

Nwobu described the election as a family affair, adding that the primary election was not the end. He said the election was free and fair.

Shortly after the election,  Governor Ifeanyi Okowa wrote on his Facebook page that, “I congratulate Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori on his emergence as the Governorship flag-bearer of our great party, the PDP in Delta.

“I also rejoice with all other aspirants who emerged victorious in the last few days of our party primaries across all levels, even as I urge those who were not lucky at the polls this time to continue to support the building of our party and the transformation of our country.”

The governor also, attended a Thanksgiving Service at the Government House Chapel, Asaba to thank God for the success of the Delta State PDP primaries and the victory of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori at the just concluded gubernatorial primaries.
