The Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, has urged Nigerians to l reflect on the spirit of Christmas which is love, kindness, and generosity.
He made the charge in an address read by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, at the Delta State Interdenominational Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, held at the Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN) Ecumenical Center, Asaba.
The governor said that he would continue to uphold the values of Christmas and work tirelessly in line with the M.O.R.E Agenda of his administration to ensure that the state remains a beacon of hope and prosperity for all.
He said, “As we gather to sing carols and rejoice, let us remember the true spirit of Christmas; let us reflect on the values of love, kindness, and generosity that this season represents.
“As your Governor, I pledge to continue to work tirelessly in line with the M.O.R.E Agenda to ensure that our state remains a beacon of hope and prosperity for all.
“I urge all Deltans to extend a hand of kindness to those around them, let us show love and care to the less privileged, the vulnerable, and those in need.
“As we celebrate Christmas, let us also remember our responsibilities as citizens; let us strive to build a society that is just, equitable, and peaceful.’
Governor Oborevwori commended the organizers and the traditional rulers for their unwavering support for his administration.
The governor took the first lesson title,”The fall of man,” from Genesis 3:8-19 while the Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor took the second lesson from Gen. 22:15-18.
Earlier, Rev Dr Paul Anyas, said that the celebration of Christmas was a promise of God to mankind, saying God is a promise keeper.
Rev Anyasi said God’s promises and His timing were always perfect, emphasizing that God uses the unexpected to fulfill His promises to mankind.
The carol night was marked with prayers for the state government and the country
