Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, on Friday, inaugurated a multi-million naira bore hole donated by Sir Anthony Chukwu, Special Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Non-indigene and Community Development.
Inaugurating the project at Cable Point, Asaba, Delta State, Sir Onyeme who was represented by the Chief Economic Adviser to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Dr Barry Gbe commended Sir Chukwu for giving back to his Constituency especially in this Christmas season.
He said, “this is unique, you have proven that you identify with the needs of your people.
“I urge all political office holders to borrow a leaf from you and give back to their constituents, government cannot do it alone, so, if as an individuals, groups or organizations, we give back to the society, we will witness more development in our communities and our state in general.
“I have learnt too that today, you are distributing bage rice to selected group of people, this is also a good initiative as it is in line with the spirit of Christmas which is charity.
“In the spirit of Christmas, I urge you all to continue to remain peaceful, take care of your neighbours by giving to the needy.
“As a government, we shall continue to play our roles of delivering on our mandate through the MORE Agenda.”
In their goodwill messages, the representative of the Asagba of Asaba, Ogbueshi Wing Commander Peter Iweze and High Chief Chinedu Obodo commended Sir Anthony Chukwu for the initiative.
They pledged their support for Governor Oborevwori-led administration.
While inaugurating the project, the wife of the Deputy Governor, Ezinne Catherine Onyeme charged the people to make good use of the Water project and as well, cultivate good maintenance culture for it to serve the purpose it was built.
Earlier, Sir Anthony Chukwu who executed the water project said it was meant to serve the people to solve one of their greatest challenges which is portable water supply.
Sir Chukwu described the project as a symbol of hope, progress, and a dream come true for him to have played a part in bringing clean water to the people of the community.
