Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Delta North Senatorial District have unanimously passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, adopting them as their sole candidates for the presidential and governorship elections in 2027.

The vote of confidence and adoption took place during an enlarged meeting of the APC Delta North Senatorial District held in Asaba on Friday.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, Ph.D.; the party’s Delta North Senatorial candidate, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, CON; the State Chairman of the APC, Chief Solomon Areyenka; and the District Chairman of the party, Chief Dan Ossai, among others.

The former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives and current APC candidate for the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, moved the motion for the vote of confidence, which was seconded by the member representing Oshimili North Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Frank Esenwa.

Chief Areyenka asked party members for their opinions, and they unanimously adopted President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori as their candidates for President and Governor, respectively.

Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme reeled out several of the President’s economic policies, describing them as “daring but impactful on our people.”

”Daring because no President before President Bola Tinubu had implemented state police or removed the fuel subsidy,” Onyeme stated. “But today, state and local governments can execute multi-billion Naira projects because of the multiplier benefits of these economic policies.

”Today, no tier of government owes workers or contractors, because President Bola Tinubu, through his economic policies, has ensured there is enough money for all tiers of government to execute their electoral mandates.

”Our President is tackling insurgency and ensuring security. In our state, what our Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, is doing is visible to all of us. Our state is being transformed; there is money for the government to work, so let us get it right by keeping Nigeria on a progressive path.

”Tell the people that President Bola Tinubu is doing very well. Look at the unbundling of the power sector—the benefits are enormous.

”We must be proud of all our candidates, starting with President Bola Tinubu. Let us talk to our constituents, call back those who feel they did not get what they wanted during the congress, and tell them that they will benefit more by remaining in the APC.”

Speaking on the occasion, the Delta North Senatorial candidate for the 2027 election, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, CON, said: “The APC in Delta North and across Delta State is one family. All of us who are candidates of the party should submit ourselves in humility and ensure genuine reconciliation as members of one family.

”Our strength truly lies in our unity; there is a lot of work for us to do. This is the time for inclusion. To our leaders in our different local governments and wards, this is the time for inclusion—we must extend our hands of fellowship to those who did not return to office.”

The former Governor went on to give several reasons why Nigerians will vote for APC candidates.

The State Chairman of the APC, Chief Solomon Areyenka, thanked the organizers of the meeting, noting that “in every contest, there will be a winner and a loser, but the party is paramount.” He asked party leaders to attend political meetings in their units and wards.

”Campaign in your units; emphasis should be on your units. Make them strong, and work to ensure that nobody is aggrieved,” he added.

Earlier in an address, the Chairman of the APC, Delta North Senatorial District, Chief Dan Ossai, congratulated those who emerged as party candidates for the 2027 general elections.

He thanked Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, Ph.D.; Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa; Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu; Chief Nkem Okwuofu; and others “for their support, guidance, and advice that have kept the party strong, cohesive, and united.”

Chief Ossai called for continuous efforts to ensure a more united and progressive APC.

All party Chairmen across the nine local government areas of Delta North Senatorial District individually presented reports from their domains, with all affirming that the APC remains strong in their respective areas.

Others who spoke at the meeting, including Chief Nkem Okwuofu and Sir Fidelis Tilije, expressed confidence that through concerted efforts, the APC will enter the next election as one united family.
