The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, Ph.D., has called for total unity, cooperation, and singleness of purpose among all members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State.
He warned against any attempt to create artificial divisions within the party ranks.
Addressing party faithful and stakeholders on Thursday at the residence of Rear Admiral Mike Onah, OON, at Utagba-Uno during a ‘Thank You Visit’ by Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, the member representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Sir Onyeme emphasized that political unity remains the bedrock of sustainable development in Delta State.
He stressed that the narrative distinguishing between “old” and “new” APC members is both counterproductive and false.
”We were all in the PDP, and all of us are now in the APC.
”There is no old APC or new APC; both old and new APC were once in the PDP; Delta State always speaks with one voice, and we believe strongly in political unity, so, we are now all in the APC and must work together without division.
”It is wrong for anybody to cause division by saying this is old or new APC; we will continue to work together for the good of our people,” the Deputy Governor said.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the leadership to foster an inclusive environment where every party member is valued and empowered to contribute to the growth and development of Delta, and thanked Rear Admiral Mike Onah and all political leaders for making the APC thick.
He added, “I thank the people of Ndokwa West in particular for the cooperation that we are witnessing.
”Our Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, is highly in support of the electrification of Ndokwa, and our son, Commissioner for Energy, Hon. Michael Anoka, is doing very well, so, let us remain united as a people and focus on giving our political party, the APC, 100 percent of the vote.”
He thanked Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi for being a loyal and committed member of the APC, asserting, “Hon. Ezechi is a strong voice in Abuja, and we are proud of his representation.”
Engr. Dan Ossai, Chairman, Delta North Senatorial District, stated, “it is good that Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi is here to give thanks and give an account of his stewardship.”
Rear Admiral Onah thanked the Ndokwa people for working for the sustenance of the APC.
He said, “there is no sentiment in politics; we should work for the APC with passion because it is the ruling party, and the APC is light, so, we should embrace the APC.
“There is a reason why we are in the APC, and I am happy that Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency is for the APC; let us continue in this spirit till after the 2027 election because our goal is a 100 percent vote for all the APC candidates.
”Look out for any aggrieved person who intends to join any other political party and bring the person to the APC fold; there should be total unity.
”Political patronage cannot get to everybody, but it comes in different ways, so, what is required is patience and commitment; don’t relent in your efforts; it is not about winning, but winning very well, and that is what we need in Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency.”
Barr. Sam Osasa, a former member of the House of Representatives and Executive Secretary, Delta State Security Trust Fund, stated at the occasion, “Hon. Ezechi told us the truth about what he is doing in Abuja as our representative.
”For the people of Ndokwa West Local Government Area, both the leadership and members are fully behind you, Hon. Ezechi, we will work for you the way we have always done; it is good that you know how you started.”
He prayed for Hon. Ezechi, adding, “Hon. Ezechi is very outspoken and well recognized in the House of Representatives; his second tenure will yield more results.”
Hon. Ezechi stated that the meeting was important to enable him to thank the leaders and stakeholders for allowing themselves to be used to choose him as their representative.
”I am here to thank you; our political leaders were used by God to make it possible for me to represent Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
”I am indebted to Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency for standing by me, it is a privilege to serve Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency, and by the grace of God, I will not fail the Ndokwa/Ukwuani people.”
Political leaders in Ndokwa West attended the meeting.
