While reiterating the commitment of the governor in uplifting the education sector, she asserted that the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education decided to embark on unscheduled visits to schools to monitor the level of compliance to the date of resumption in the state to get first hand assessment of the level of dedication of teachers and the students.

Ezewu who was a teacher at Ikweghwu Secondary School in Agbarho town, was given a rousing welcome by her former colleagues who danced in appreciation to God and Governor Oborevwori for elevating one of them to the position of a when her team visited the school.

She commended the students for turning out in good number on the first day of resumption and admonished them to put to good use, the knowledge that were impacted in them by their teachers and equally encouraged them to put more efforts in their studies.

She stated that the right path to securing a bright future was they by participating actively in academic activities and do away with the notion that school is a scam.

The Commissioner added that With th the M.O.R.E agenda of the Oborevwori’s administration, the Basic and Secondary schools in the state would get priority attention because the governor understands that to sustain the legacy that the state has attained, good education was important for young people whom according to her, “are the future of Delta State.”

She warned that any principal who engaged in the extortion of students and parents under the guise of registration for entrance into Basic and Secondary School would be punished accordingly.

“Teaching is more than just impacting knowledge, it is the ability of the teacher to ensure positive changes in the children

“Learning is more than absorbing facts during teaching, it is the ability to acquire and understand the impacted knowledge and behind every successful person is a good teacher, so, this administration is determined to support and encourage our teachers in this Academic Session,” Ezewu said.

Some of the schools the monitoring team visited were located in Osubi, Agbarho, Orerokpe, Ikweghwu, Oha, Eradajaye, Orherhe, and Ekpan secondary schools in Okpe, Ugheli north and Uvwie local government areas of Delta state.
