Onyeme Urges Leaders To Do More For Rural Dwellers

Delta State Deputy Governor-elect, Chief Monday Onyeme, has urged political leaders to pay more attention to meet the developmental needs of the masses to foster inclusive governance.

Onyeme, spoke, on Thursday, in Asaba, Delta State during a courtesy visit by Onicha-Ukwuani clan in Ndokwa West LGA.

The Deputy Governor-elect hails from Ibabu community, one of five communities that make up Onicha-Ukwuani clan.

According to him, democracy is all inclusive and the people at the grassroots should be carried along in the delivery of democratic dividends.

He noted that Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration will maintain the development strides of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration to rural communities in Delta state.

He expressed joy that the first set of persons to officially visit him were indigenes of his community.

“I am very happy today that my people, the people of Onicha-Ukwuani and Ndokwa West did so much to mobilize people to vote for us which was evident from the election result from Onicha-Ukwuani and Ndokwa West.

“It is good that as politicians, we should have the support of our people from the grassroots and there should also be even development.

“Our Governor, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa attracted a lot of development to villages while also developing the towns and cities and I can tell you the Rt. Hon. Oborevwori’s administration will do MORE.

“Do not be tired of supporting the government of Delta State, remain peaceful and government will deliver to your expectations.”

Hon. Aneke Ifemeni, an ex majority leader Delta Assembly 1991-92, told the Deputy Governor-elect that Onicha Ukwuani clan have come to formally celebrate him despite an earlier visit at his country home.

Hon. Ifemeni urged the Onyeme to pay regular visit home to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood.

Dignitaries at the event include Chief Christopher Osakwe, Chief Richard Obi, Mrs Tina Edeme, Hon. Kingsley Egugbo, among others.

Also on Thursday, the people of Utagba-Ogbe community in Ndokwa West Local Government Area also paid a congratulatory visit to Chief Onyeme.

Barr. Emmanuel Egri-Okwaji, Mrs Kate Onah, Chief Lucky Efe and Chief Fidelis Okoloafor were among those who led the Utagba-Ogbe community on the visit.

Chairman, PDP, Ndokwa West, Ogbuefi Lucky Okuji, Chief Lucky Ossai, among others, were present during the visits.
